ACT-FACT summer camp 2020 in Helsingborg Sweden
About the ACT Summer Camp
ACT Summer Camp II, scheduled for September 7-12, 2020, is a rare opportunity to get a week long (six days, monday morning to saturday afternoon), intensive supervision and training experience in a small group format with the 3 founders of Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (FACT), who are also widely regarded as master ACT trainers. Our educational methods are heavily oriented toward helping you develop practical and effective clinical skills. This means we don’t “lecture” a lot, but instead give highly focused, time limited didactic training, with a much bigger emphasis on role playing, modeling skills during case supervision, providing real time feedback on video recordings of therapy sessions and leaving plenty of time for small group interaction in case discussions. The majority of training activities will be conducted in English, with some opportunities for Swedish speakers to conduct their role plays in their first language.
About Each Day
Morning and afternoon training sessions will involve each trainer addressing a specific clinical topic area with a small group of participants who are interested in that topic (i.e., dealing with suicidal behaviors; treating patients with chronic pain and depression, working with children and families). We will leave the topics for some sessions open so that attendees can pick those topic areas that are of interest to them. Each day will end with a one and a half hour long “grand rounds” involving the three of us facilitating a large group discussion of an important clinical, ethical or conceptual issue in ACT.
Every morning, Patti will meet participants who are interested in a half hour group walk to the sea, along with some basic yoga stretches. At the end of the clinical day, Patti will offer participants a half hour restorative yoga class. These optional activities are designed to complete the classroom learning activities and to enhance opportunities for working with awareness and promoting reflection and self-compassion.
About the Venue and Lodging
The training will be held at the beautiful, peaceful Sundsgarden Conference Center, situated on the sea that separates Sweden from Denmark; only an hour by train from the Copenhagen airport. Across the sea and 20 minutes away is Helsingor, Denmark, with its’ fabled castle (the setting for Hamlet). You have easy access to the beach as well; it is a five-minute walk from the conference center. A ten-minute bus ride will take you to the bustling city center of Helsingborg, where there are numerous hotels and excellent restaurants. In Helsingborg, you can take a ferry to Helsingor castle. If you choose to stay at the conference center, your breakfast, dinner and a lighter snack at night is included in the nightly room rate. Single or double occupancy rooms are quite modern and very reasonably priced for conference attendees. Note that you are responsible for arranging your own lodging. Price for double room is 1070 swedish kr a night for the room and 670 for a single.
The site is in Swedish but they will respond in English both by e mail and telephone. You could also book on their web page.
