About the event
The Festival of the Way of the Cross is a festival where we for a few days portray Christian faith by letting the Four Signposts of the Cross: Follow Jesus Christ, Build Community, Live Simpler and Promote Righteousness permeate everything we do.
Touch Our Hearts—So We Can See
The Way of the Cross movement is united in a longing to follow Jesus Christ and to direct our gaze towards the life that He invites us to discover.
In our time, there are many things that trap people in destructive patterns of life and limit the field of vision of the reality that God wants to show us. Self-centeredness, greed, and division are among the things that weigh down lives, numb minds, and hinder community.
Jesus invites people to a life in a different direction, to love, wholeness and hope for the future. He wants to do something new – here and now in our lives. The Gospels tell of how Jesus repeatedly liberates people by touching hearts, opening eyes, and transforming lives.
In one such story, we meet a hunched woman in the synagogue on the Sabbath. She had suffered from her limitations for a long time. When Jesus saw the woman, he freed her from the weight. His hands and words touched her body and the innermost part of her heart. A curved back and a diminished life were straightened. Thus she could, transformed and freed, rise up and worship God.
Another story highlights the blind beggar Bartimaeus by the roadside. Those around him wanted to silence him, but could not hold back his cry for Jesus. His prayer was to see again, and Jesus opened his eyes. This led to a life of following Jesus.
The woman in the synagogue and the man by the roadside are life stories that testify to how God wants to liberate His creation and humanity. This continues to this day and also applies to us. Jesus wants to straighten crooked lives, touch us and open our eyes to the presence of the Spirit in the world. In it lies the hope of the future God holds in His hand, when heaven and earth will become one.
During the Korsvei Festival 2026, we will once again gather for celebration and protest. In light of our signposts—seeking Jesus Christ, building community, living more simply, and promoting justice—we can immerse ourselves together in the gospel stories of Jesus. He who to this day touches hearts, opens eyes, and transforms lives.
