Instructor training in Nose work, the fantastic dog sport from the USA. If the dogs get to choose the most fun and exciting dog sport! Nose Work Instructor Training - Approved by the Swedish Nose Work Club
It's about scent discrimination and the dog's amazing sense of smell. The scents that the dog should mark are Eucalyptus, Bay Leaf and Lavender. There are 4 classes and 5 disciplines. In terms of competition, there are four different elements in TSM (competition all elements) container search, indoor search, outdoor search & vehicle search and 4 searches of the same elements in competitions in TEM (competition single part. Goal of the course: You should be able to hold your own courses in Nosework for dog owners and future instructors. Syllabus: 4x3 days, with a lot of own practice and reading at home between sessions. Dates see below. Certification exam for instructor within the Swedish Nose Work club is included in the course. After passing the exam, you will become a certified SNWK instructor.
Homework: Train your own dog + 2 teams in Nose Work, SNWK's regulations, write exercise plans. Part 1: Ethology, Learning. Learning scent. Indoor search, container search, vehicle search, outdoor search. Mainly practice with your own dog, videos about the different elements, review of the 4 elements of Nose Work. Pedagogy and exercise plans. Theory/practice mixed. Part 2: feedback, scent test, problem solving, search technique, rules for competition, Part 3: scanning, marking training, different heights, more scent caches, combi caches, the dog's sense of smell, environment, balance exercises, theory/practice mixed. Instruct test combinations. Part 4: Accounting for homework. Fun competition in the 4 different parts indoor search, outdoor search, container search and vehicle search. Certification to SNWK instructor - Practical and theoretical exam. Duration of the training: The training is 11 scheduled full days + 1 day certification. Part 1: 4-6 Sept 2026Part 2: 2-4 Oct 2026Part 3: 30 Oct-1 Nov 2026Part 4: 27-29 Nov 2026 Times: Fridays: 09.00-17.30 Saturdays: 08.00-17.30 Sundays: 08.00-16.30 NOTE: 100% attendance is required, if you get sick or miss a day due to unforeseen events, you will have to make up for it at one of the other educations that are available. You can take the test to become an approved instructor in SNWK when you have completed the entire training.
