Yin Yoga & The Five Elements - Online Workshop Series with

Five workshops about the body, emotions and our different ways of facing life
The five elements of traditional Chinese medicine – earth, metal, water, wood and fire – describe different movements and qualities in nature, but also in humans. They can help us understand how we react when life changes, what we need to regain our stability, and what abilities we can develop through the body.
Each element is associated with specific meridians and body areas, but also with certain feelings, needs and ways of facing life.
Earth is about our ability to feel grounded, receive nourishment and find our way back to our center when our thoughts are characterized by worry and brooding. Metal contains grief, but also clarity and the ability to discern what we want to preserve and what we need to let go. Water is associated with fear and uncertainty, but also with trust, patience, rest and the deep power that does not need to be rushed. Wood carries the energy of anger and frustration, but also our willingness, flexibility, and ability to find a direction and start moving towards it. Fire is about joy, warmth and community – about daring to meet others and open the heart without losing touch with ourselves.
The emotions are not seen as problems that should be removed or replaced with more positive states. Worry, sadness, fear and anger are part of life and often carry important information. But we can get caught up in them. During the workshops, we therefore examine both the challenges of the element and the human abilities that can help us move forward: finding our foundation, letting go, resting in trust, choosing direction and creating a living connection.
In each workshop, we design the yin yoga session with a focus on the meridians that in traditional Chinese medicine belong to the elements of the evening. The poses are complemented by functional movements, breathing, meditation and reflection. In this way, we approach the theme from several directions – anatomical, emotional and existential.
It's not just about understanding something about the thought. The body also needs to experience another possibility.
In the practice of the soil, we explore weight, support and contact with the substrate. In the metal, we work with the breath, exhalation and the ability to soften. The water leads us towards stillness, recovery and to economize with our strength. The wood evokes movement, flexibility and direction. The fire directs attention to the heart, warmth and our ability to connect and commune.
The workshops together form a journey, but each occasion is also independent. You do not need any previous knowledge of either yin yoga or traditional Chinese medicine. You can participate in an individual workshop or follow the entire series.
Teachers: Magdalena Mecweld & Mats NielsenPrice: SEK 330 per workshopThe entire series of five workshops: SEK 1,495
The workshops are held online via Zoom. Recording is included, so you can participate live or take part in the workshop afterwards.
