About the event
This training is aimed at those who want to deepen their knowledge of yin yoga and mindfulness. We learn both the Buddhist mindfulness theory/history and how we can apply this very effective technique in our lives and our yin yoga teaching. Note that it is the classic Satipatthana (mindfulness) that we delve into, the one that the modern MBSR has taken inspiration from.
Simply described, mindfulness meditation is about being aware of ourselves and our surroundings. To live life to the fullest, awake and with. Mindfulness is both a meditation technique but also the mind's ability to a greater awareness and wisdom. By practicing awakening our inner mindfulness, we learn to see our thoughts, feelings, and physical sensations and the reactions that arise to them. We expand our life space and our freedom to choose rather than go on autopilot where our habitual patterns/programs choose for us.
Lying or sitting in the sometimes comfortable and sometimes demanding yin yoga poses gives us a great opportunity to observe our human nature, our body and our mind. With the help of mindfulness technology, we can help both ourselves and our students to stay, relax and see what is happening in the present. In this way, we get to know ourselves in a new way. We reprogram the system from time to time. Both the body and the mind get a fresh start and a recovery.
The association of yin yoga & mindfulness can be compared to ACT (acceptance, commitment therapy), a very popular mindfulness-based form of therapy that involves getting to know and manage our thoughts and feelings and thus reducing stress and suffering. ACT has proven to be so effective that it is used in psychiatry and even pain clinics.
On the course is Licensed Psychologist Daniel Ek who gives a lecture and exercises in ACT during the course. Read more about Daniel here. Daniel is the author of two books "Time to Live" (Natur & Kultur 2016). But also the latest "Long live friends!" (Nature & Culture 2020).
Please note that we do not go through the positions and all their variants (we do that in detail during module 1) in this course. The focus here is mindfulness meditation in relation to yin yoga and its poses. The course contains a lot of meditation, both theoretical and practical.
The training is 25 hours, of which part of the time is devoted to self-reading (see mandatory reading below).
